angels and airwaves

The rock band angels and airwaves was created by blink-182 former guitarist, Tom DeLonge and his friend and former Box Car Racer member David Kennedy.

The group also includes Offspring drummer Atom Willard and Distillers former bass-player Ryan Sinn. DeLonge trademarked "Angels and Airwaves" on June 24, 2005 according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office and he claims that his new project will be "the best music made in decades" as well as being "much more powerful, emotional and melodic than Box Car and blink put together".

On the first debut album of angels and airwaves We Don't Need To Whisper Tom DeLonge began working in February 2005. For half a year DeLonge abstain from any interviews about his future plans because of group's "indefinite hiatus" status and was writing and recording in studio which based in his home but in September 2005 he gave an interview to Kerrang magazine and called the name of his new group "Angels & Airwaves".

From the beginning the group's logo was AAA but then Tom DeLonge realized and decided to invert the middle A thus he could have his daughter's name Ava. On May 18 2006 Angels & Airwaves released their first single "The adventure" and short while later on may 23 2006 the first album We Don't Need To Whisper which reached 4th place on the Billboard 2000 and became a gold album. On April 23 2007 during the Free Earth Day concert at M.I.T. bass-player Ryan Sinn wasn't there as had difficulties with the group. Then he announced that he was no longer member of Angels & Airwaves and now performing with Love Equals Death.

Later during the interview to Kerrang magazine Tom DeLonge told about Sin's departure he said "He's a really great person and a really great bass player. But we had different priorities and he had things going on in his life that he needed to take care of. The rest of us were relying on him to tackle those things, but he couldn't do it. And so it put him into a defensive position." The new bass guitarist of Angels and Airwaves became former Matt Wachter from 30 seconds to Mars. In another interview to Kerrang Tom Delonge announced about new upcoming album called I-Empire which included 12 tracks and would be released on Universal/Island records.

On the Billboard I -Empire debuted 200 chart at No.9 with sales of 66,000 in its first week and reached number one on the iTunes Top Albums chart. Then on August 29 2007 Angels & Airwaves updated their website with a new trailer for the upcoming album which shows a montage of video from the upcoming I - Empire film and the upcoming documentary, featuring the new song "Secret Crowds". On June 18 2007 Angels & Airwaves announced about a newly designed website describing a motorcyclist and a flash application with flashing text including "I-Empire, Fall 2007" which plays a short music clip. On August 25 2007 on California radio station KROQ the first single from the new album "Everything's Magic" was the most requested song.
